A Polish taxi licence is granted to an entrepreneur for a defined operating area. A fleet partner can hold the licence, while the driver and each car must meet their own requirements. There is no universal 21-year age or two-year driving-experience rule in Bolt's current registration guide; Bolt lists a minimum age of 18.
Who applies for the taxi licence?
The entrepreneur providing taxi transport applies to the relevant local authority. If you drive through a fleet partner, ask to see the partner's operating arrangement and confirm that the car has an extract from the licence for your area. If you run your own business, you apply in your business's name. The licence can be granted for a period from 2 to 50 years; the fee depends on the term and number of vehicles.
Your driver documents
- Valid Polish driving licence and identity document or passport/residence card.
- Polish criminal record certificate, no older than 30 days at Bolt's in-person verification.
- Medical and psychological fitness certificates.
- Taxi driver ID where required by the city.
See Bolt's current registration guide for the full checklist. Foreign nationals should confirm their legal right to work and residence for the intended arrangement; requirements depend on individual status.
The car is a separate step
The car needs its licence extract, valid insurance, registration document with a taxi entry and local markings where required. Check Bolt's car linking process before you buy or rent a vehicle.
How long and how much?
Do not rely on a fixed price or a promise of approval within one or two weeks. The office fee depends on the licence term, area and number of extracts. Processing time depends on the authority and whether the application is complete. Ask the local authority for its current schedule and a written list of documents.
