Bolt's current registration guide states a minimum age of 18 and requires a valid Polish driving licence. It does not list a general requirement for two years of driving experience. A foreign licence alone is not listed as sufficient for Bolt registration in Poland.

Personal documents

Bolt requires an in-person service point visit to verify your identity document, driving licence and criminal record certificate. The latter must be no more than 30 days old at the visit. See the official Bolt driver sign-up guide for the current list and process.

If you are a foreign national

Check that you have a valid identity or residence document and a valid Polish driving licence before applying. Rules on exchanging a foreign licence and on your right to work depend on your circumstances. Confirm your case with the appropriate Polish authority; do not rely on an assumed waiting period or on a claim that every EU or non-EU document follows the same route.

If you have a foreign licence, start with the official Polish government licence exchange service. Your fleet partner can help identify what Bolt still needs, but it cannot replace an official decision on your documents.

Taxi licence and vehicle documents

A taxi transport licence belongs to the business performing the transport, whether that is your own company or a fleet partner. The car needs the relevant extract from the taxi licence, valid insurance and registration documents. Bolt's car linking guide lists the documents to submit through the driver app. A driver working with a fleet should confirm whose licence and car documents cover the trips.

Car requirements

For standard Bolt rides, the vehicle needs at least four doors and four passenger seats. The general age limit for this category is 20 years. Other Bolt categories have different limits, and cities may have additional taxi requirements. Check the current Bolt vehicle rules for Poland before buying or renting a car. There is no general Bolt rule that every car must be from 2015 or newer.

From application to first trip

  1. Gather your personal documents and check the rules for your city.
  2. Choose your own compliant car or ask a fleet partner for a current rental offer.
  3. Register in Bolt Driver and upload readable document images.
  4. Complete in-person document verification and car approval.
  5. Start accepting trips only when all legal and platform requirements are met.

The time needed depends on your documents, the car and verification. A promise of activation within 24 hours is not reliable for every applicant.
